AZ OHV Show Me Ride

What are AZ OHV Show Me Rides?  If you are looking for new trails to ride, if you are new to off-highway vehicle scene in Arizona, or maybe you recently purchased an ATV, UTV, or dirt bike and want to know where to ride.  If so the Arizona Off-Highway Vehicle Ambassadors are now offering a chance for you to come out, meet us and get to know some new riding areas.  This free “Show Me” type experience will introduce you to the area by reviewing maps, explaining the types of trails available in the area, review proper riding etiquette/safety information, and taking a ride around the area with the OHV Ambassadors and their decades of experience.  Bring your ATV, UTV, Dirt Bike or other off-highway vehicle and be ready to hit the trail.

Table Mesa East – Little Pan Staging Areas – Take the Table Mesa Road Exit on I-17 just north of New River, turn west and then take frontage road North. Follow Table Mesa Road staying right at the first two forks. Take a left at the third fork and follow to the staging area. Staging area is approximately 4 miles west from I17. Ambassadors will meet you at the main kiosk near the rest room.

ATV/UTV – Moderate Level of Difficulty

McMullen Valley, AZ – This ride will cover about 50-60 miles while visiting several old mines plus the remains of of the town of Winchester and an old Butterfield Stage Lines Way Station.  Trails in this area rugged…this ride is not recommended for beginners or those looking for a casual stroll through the desert.  Staging area will be at the Iron Horse Bar & Grill in Harcuvar (Salome).  The address is: 64638 US-60, Salome, AZ 85348. From the North Phoenix area, Follow I-17 N to AZ-74 W/W Carefree Hwy. Take exit 223A from I-17 N for 30 miles to the intersection of SR 74 and US60 in Morristown.  Turn right onto US 60 towards Wickenburg.  Stay on US 60 West through Wickenburg for approximately 66 miles…the Iron Horse Grill will be on your right.  For those coming from the Central/East part of Phoenix, there is an alternate route that uses I-10 West.  We recommend using Google Maps to find the best route based on you starting location.  There will be RV camping available for those interested starting on 1/12/2018 through 1/14/2018.  The premises will offer dry camping and/or parking in the 3 acre yard behind the restaurant. If full RV hookups are desired, they are available on either side of the Iron Horse at the Salome KOA (800-562-7857 for reservations) or Desert Gem RV Park (928-589-3373 for reservations).

Kofa Area – Follow I-10 west to Hovatter Road, Exit #53.  Head south on Hovatter Road for approximately .25 miles to large vacant lot on the west side of the road just before the canal. GPS Coordinates: 33 36.124, 113 37.340. Jackass Flats/Morristown – Drive west on SR74 Carefree Hwy toward Wickenburg, turn north on Castle Hot Springs Rd near mile marker 2 for approximately 1.5 miles to the parking area on your right. Alternative parking is available at 2.0 miles and 2.3 miles. Note: A State Land Permit is required to park in this area…to get your state land permit visit: https://land.az.gov/natural-resources/recreational-permits.

Bouse, AZ – From Phoenix west on I-10 to exit 45, then north 7 miles on Vicksburg Rd to Hwy 72 then left or west 20 miles to Bouse Rest Area on Right. From Quartzsite north 5.7 miles on Hwy 93 to Plomosa Road, turn Right on Plomosa Road and go 20 miles to Hwy 72 Rest Area. Stage at the Bouse Rest Area on Hwy 72.

Boulders OHV Area – Take SR74 (Carefree Highway) West from I-17 past Lake Pleasant to milepost 11.5. Turn North onto well graded dirt road for approximately 1 mile. The OHV Ambassadors will meet you in the south end of the staging area at the 3-panel kiosk.

Bumble Bee Area, AZ – Directions to Bumble Bee staging area: From I-17, north of Black Canyon City, take exit 248. Cross over the interstate on frontage road. Follow the winding pavement downhill until it turns to dirt. Continue north 0.7miles to the staging area kiosk board on the left. Ambassadors will meet you at the single panel kiosk board.

West Sedona, AZ – West Sedona, AZ – from I-17 near Camp Verde take exit #287 for AZ-260 towards Cottonwood. Continue on AZ-260 west for 12.4 miles to AZ-89A North. Follow AZ-89 North for 8.9 Miles to Forest Road 525 (also known as Angel Valley Rd.) on the west side of 89A. Take Forest Road 525 for approximately .3 miles to staging area on your left. The Ambassadors will meet you in the staging area. There will be dry camping available for this event starting on Friday April 13th – Sunday April 15th.  For those camping we will have an evening ride on Friday the 13th to watch the sunset over the Red Rocks followed by a campfire.  For more information about camping for this event contact David Q. at dwquine@gmail.com.

4 Peaks OHV Area – travel north on State Route 87 towards Payson to the 4 Peaks OHV Area. Turn right on the east side of the road approximately 14 miles north of Fort McDowell. Travel on well graded dirt road for approximately 1 mile to staging area on your right. Ambassadors will meet you in the parking lot. GPS Coordinates: 33.669202, -111.495270.
